Counting Cards in a Blackjack game?

ok so i understand the whole counting system with blackjack, the +1 -1 thing. what i dont get is how to use it. with what count should i bet high/low? and if your using only one deck, shuffliing after each turn, does it still work? do you have to be using multiple decks?

A shoe is the card holder where the playing cards are pulled from.

Don't let anyone know that you know how to count cards. You will be banned from the casinos forever if they know that you know or if you get caught doing it.

I want to say that there is a registry for known card counters. they have to let the casinos know they are coming and not play blackjack. I am not 100% positive.

If you are shuffling after every hand the only way you can count cards is to count the cards currently visible to know the likelyhood of the next card off the deck coming a 10 to assist you in hitting a higher point total and in attempting to force the dealer to bust. It's not great, but it's better than nothing if you're just playing with friends at home.

I'm curious which one of you is the dealer in these games. if you're rotating the deal, and some of the guys wager more than the minimum bet, then you should make money simply by never betting more than the minimum when playing against the "house".
