Local company makes roulette more colorful

This fact is precisely why Mugnolo’s first roulette innovation, a side bet called “Colors,” is so significant. it carries a house edge of 4.34 percent, the lowest of any bet you can place on a roulette wheel.

With Colors, you make a bet that a black number will show on three consecutive spins of the wheel, or that red number will show on three consecutive spins, keeping in mind that among the numbers 1 through 36, half are black and half are red. A winning bet pays 9 for 1.

Even without the side bet, it’s possible to bet on three straight blacks or reds by making a wager and parlaying it (letting the winnings ride) twice. Each time the wager is being slammed with a house advantage that is 0.92 percent higher than Colors.

The mathematical probability of spinning three consecutive black numbers or three consecutive red numbers is 10.63 percent.

Mugnolo speculates the option would be easy to configure with Rapid Roulette, the electronic version of the game that is played on touch-screen video monitors using a live dealer and real roulette wheel.

The investment for casinos is minimal. the existing roulette wheels are used; even the game is played the same. All that’s required to accommodate the option is the addition of the Colors betting box on the felt layout.

Mugnolo, a native Chicagoan, has worked his magic in the past with blackjack and craps. the addition of Colors to his company’s arsenal of games gave his company a strong presence at the annual Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas last year.

The “greens wager” is the new twist that’s being added. it will soon be appearing on the roulette layouts at the Orleans Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas. however, unlike its cousin “Colors,” this bet is one only the house can appreciate.

A greens wager is one in which the player is betting either “0″ or “00″ will hit on two consecutive spins of the wheel. Should the greens appear back-to-back, successful bettors will collect 300 to 1. That may sound like a lot, and it is, but it all boils down to a house edge of 16.62 percent, making it the worst roulette bet from the perspective of the players.

Mugnolo’s first creation was Casino Surrender, which he renamed Automatic Win.

Using the Automatic Win option, players holding a two-card 20 against a dealer’s up-card of 10 (no blackjack) can elect to not play out their hand in exchange for getting their original bet back and winning 50 percent of its value.

It’s an option that’s not for every blackjack player because of the 5.8 percent house edge, but expert players who track cards can use it to their advantage.

Next he unveiled a craps option called 7-Point-7.

Making a bet on 7-Point-7 means that players win 2 to 1 if a 7 is made on the come out roll; if the come out is a 2, 3, 11, or 12, the bet loses. If a point (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) is made on the come out and the very next roll is a 7, players are paid 3 to 1. If any other number is rolled, the bet loses.

The house advantage of 5.5 percent seems like a lot, but for players who favor such wagers, 7-Point-7 is comparable to a bet on the Field and packs the lowest edge among all the other so-called proposition bets you can make at the craps table.

Black Jack counting cards help.?

I just got an ipod touch and got the 21 blackjack pro game. It shows you how the KO counting cards system works. It's kind-of hard for me to understand so I was looking for some help from other people. I'm almost 15 and pretty smart. I usually catch onto thing very quickly. I have made charts but where do I start?

Sure, it helps improve your math skills…

Dont use the KO system, in the future when you wish to expand your skills, it will be better that you use a balanced system, also, the ko system doesn't yield as high of an edge as do other systems.

To start, you need to learn the counting system you are going to use and get used to using it so that it becomes automatic and seconds nature, which at first may seem like it will never happen, but after several months you will be counting the cards without even thinking about it, i recall one time i was talking to a casino host, and another player at the same time while giving my email address, and filling out a form for a comp card, when i was done, i still had the count even though i wasn't specifically focusing on the cards, if i can do it, so can you.

Then you got to learn proper playing strategy, then indexes, then just get really good at it, that's it, you got 3 years till you can gamble legally anywhere so that will give you plenty of time, here's some web pages that will be helpful.

Am I missing something with counting cards in Blackjack?

I feel that it is pretty simple, you add/subtract 1 depending on the cards showing, and when the count is high or low, you use that to help determine how much to bet. So when the count is low and a lot of high cards are more probable to come out, dont you bet more since your odds increase in winning?

yeah, you are missing a lot.

In a way, you are comparing it to say ….oh, I need to go left, so ill just turn the steering wheel left, when in reality, theres a lot gogin on insdie the car, with the power steering pump, etc.

The point values assigned to the cards are representations of theire "effect of removal" or EOR

The eor is a value the card represents that effects the exhisting house advantage.

The exhisting house advantage is a percentage of every dollar bet that the casino makes (on average) as profit

The EOR is a smaller percentage, but it measuring the ***change in house advantage*** as a result of that card being removed.

EORs for each card will be positive or negetive depending on the value of the card, and each EOR for each card is different based on the number of decks and the rules of the game.

To make things simpler, point values are assigned that roughly correltate to the magnitudes of the EORs

The more intricate the card counting system the more efficient it will be, though simple systems using only "1"s are very effective.

as you keep the count, you are actually keeping a rough estimation of the change in the house advantage as a result of the cards seen being removed from the game, but keep in mind, the change in house advantage is not always enough to completely wipe out the exhisting house edge, so even though you may be playing at a high count, you may not be playing at an advantage.

It is true that with higher counts the odds of winning are "high–**ER**" but it doesn always mean you are making a wise bet.

You need to take into consideration the EOR for your game, and the exhisting house edge before betting.

"So when the count is low and a lot of high cards are more probable to come out, dont you bet more since your odds increase in winning?"

When the count is high then you bet more because high cards are more likely to come out of the deck.

When the count is low the high cards have hit the table.

According to the book Bringing down the House, a top level card counter can get a 2% edge at best. this means a win 51% of the time and a loss 49% of the time. So this means wins and losses when the count is zero or plus or minus 1 count in the percentage just wins or losses with a very high or very low count. So if you bet a nominal amount with a lower count and win and then bet big with a high count and lose, then will you make money overall? Think about that.

If it's so simple, then why do you have it backwards? when the count is low (negative), then low cards are more likely to come out. you make larger bets when the count is high and high cards are more likely to come out.

The basics of card counting are pretty simple. you only need to memorize a few dozen rules and do simple addition, subtraction and a little division. becoming proficient in it can take a few weeks or months of practice if you work at it for a few hours a day.

<sarcasm>
I feel that performing surgeries is pretty simple. you just cut people open, fix what is wrong with them and then just stitch them back up. Am I missing something?
</sarcasm>

you are not missing something, but the pace of a full table can make it more difficult to keep your count straight.

also, while counting cards is not illegal, per se, it is frowned upon in casinos- dealers and pit bosses are trained to notice changes in betting habits.

third, the count only indicates conditions that are more favorable for betting. if you don't start with a bankroll that's large enough, you could lose money chasing the good cards.

yes you are missing something in this field. like someone who works in the casinos who watches those who try to cheat the casino out of big money be careful not to get caught

of you ask here you are probably missing that you have to play perfect basic strategy….

There aren’t many games at the casino where a proper playing strategy can decrease or possibly eliminate the advantage enjoyed by the house, but blackjack is one such game. There are well-known strategies of card counting that enable to eliminate the edge in favor of the house and help the player enjoy a winning day at either the virtual or real work blackjack games.

Obviously the most well known, and most efficient, method for blackjack players to tip the odds to their benefit is to count cards. Card counting, of course is not as simple, or as straightforward, as many tend to believe. in the end, casinos are also aware of card counting, and they are continuously taking countermeasures to limit the effectiveness of this method. from using multiple decks or cards to applying automatic shufflers, casinos are always aiming to defeat card counters, and good players are always discovering new methods and strategies.

The easiest method to count cards is just to keep a current count in your head as every new card is dealt from the deck. this count will help you to determine the chances of the cards they need being the next to appear from the deck. Although this method is relatively simple on single deck blackjack tables, it becomes increasingly complex as the number of decks used in the game rises. Clever blackjack players actively look for single deck tables, as such tables typically give the best chances and the greatest advantage to the skillful card counter.

It is clear that the running count does not tell the whole story, even on single deck blackjack tables. It is essential to know the real count in order to give an efficient betting strategy. Basically, the true count is the running count divided by the number of decks of cards that have not yet been dealt. this true count will allow for a better idea of how favorable the remaining cards will be.
